RWA2018 Signing Recap

I had such a fun time at my first RWA conference! It took me a week to recover from the people overload, but I don’t regret a second of it. :)

I’m thrilled to report that my first ever signing was a success! I signed close to 150 copies of Polaris Rising in an hour. It was crazy awesome!

Thank you to everyone who came by and took the time to pick up a copy. Especially when I was in the same room as Beverly Jenkins, Tessa Dare, Sarah MacLean, and so many more incredible, amazing authors. Before the signing, it was all I could do not to run around fangirling like crazy.

It was my first time seeing PR in print, and I have to say, I was blown away. It looks INCREDIBLE in person, y’all. Look at this table. Look. At. It. ?

Who could resist? I couldn’t, and I might have made a very unprofessional squeeing sound when I saw it. In fact, if you want to see a face of pure joy, look no further. …

Polaris Rising: Cover Reveal, RWA Signing, Snippet, and More!!

It’s the week for book news! But before I show you the gorgeous cover of Polaris Rising, let me tell you about something exciting:

I am signing early galley copies of Polaris Rising at the Avon signing at RWA this week!

The signing is on Friday, July 20, at 8:30AM in the Sheraton Denver Downtown Plaza AB, and you need an RWA conference badge to attend.

If you or anyone you know is going to RWA, please please please come and see me. This is my first signing EVER, and it’s like my nightmare scenario to have a book signing where no one comes. I’ll be in a room with some of my favorite authors, so on your way to their table, take a second to stop by my table. :)

And now, without further ado, here is the cover for Polaris Rising:

Many thanks to the team at Voyager for the design! I think it turned out great and I can’t wait to see it in print!

If you’re a reviewer, librarian, or bookseller, review copies of Polaris Rising are available on Edelweiss.

And I know I just had a book release (which was amazing, thank you so much!), but if you feel so inclined, Polaris Rising is up for preorder, both in ebook and print formats:

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iBooks | Kobo | Google Play

Preorders are important for traditionally published books (especially debut novels), so expect me to push it a few more times as we get closer to release. :)

And, as a bonus for making it through all of that, here’s a tiny snippet: …

The Queen’s Gambit is Now Available!

The Queen’s Gambit Available Now!

Happy novella release day! The Queen’s Gambit is now available at your ebook retailer of choice:

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iBooks | Kobo | Google Play

EDIT: PRINT BOOKS ARE HERE! They’re not yet linked from the same page as the ebook, but you can order a copy here:

Amazon

They will hopefully go up on Amazon by the end of the day, but it kind of depends on how long Amazon sits on the approval. I know some of you are waiting on them and I apologize for the delay. I’m desperate to order one, too. :) I’ll edit the post with a link when they’re up.

A huge thank you to every one who preordered and to everyone who buys a copy now that it’s available, or requests it from your library, or just read along as I posted the serial. You all are the best!

For those of you who do read the new version, I hope you enjoy the changes. Let me know! And, if you feel like it, please leave a review. As a new author, reviews are super helpful. :)

This week is my birthday week and I can’t think of a better present than a book release, especially because I’m still furiously writing PR book two, so this is kind of a low key release for me. I had planned to do more, but the book I’m contracted for comes first. The good news is that I’ll hopefully be too busy to stress over how TQG is doing. (Ha!)

And last but not least, I’ll be at the RWA conference next week. This is my first conference as an author, so nerves. But if any of you are going to be there, I’d love to try to meet up for a drink/coffee/etc!

Words Learned From Reading

We went on a mini vacation for a couple days last week and while on a tour, I learned the word gaol was pronounced jail.

Mind. Blown.

Gaol is a word that pops up every so often in historical romances, and while I knew exactly what it meant, in my mind it was pronounced something like it looks (think ga-oll).

This got me thinking of other words I know from reading, but I’ve never used in conversation. Licentious comes to mind. Or imagine if you’ve only ever read colonel. Good luck pronouncing that one from the spelling. Or chic. I pronounced that one wrong for a while as a kid. Chaise (as in the furniture) still trips me up occasionally, because in my mind it should be chase.

I know there must be more, so I’ll turn the question over to you all. Do you have any words you learned from reading only to later find you were mentally pronouncing them wrong?
