Look at those other authors! I’m going to have to get my star eyes under control in order to be able to form a coherent sentence. This is the first book festival I’ve been to where I’ll be the one behind the table. I’m equal parts nervous and excited!

Polaris Rising Discussion

Now that Polaris Rising has been out for a little bit, let’s talk about it! This is your chance to chat with fellow fans, post theories, and ask questions.

Do you have a burning question about something in the book? Ask it below and I’ll do my best to answer. I won’t spoil future books, so you may have to wait for your answer until the next book is out. And please be patient; I’m buried in work. I’ll post answers in batches rather than in real-time. :)

The comment thread will likely be full of spoilers. Avoid it if you haven’t read the book yet or aren’t done.

Once again, for those in the back: DANGER! SPOILERS IN THE COMMENTS!

Thank You!

Yesterday was amazing! I tried to keep up with everyone on social media, but if I missed you, I apologize. It got a little crazy there for a bit. Thank you for being so excited about Polaris Rising. You all made my day!

Last night, Mr. Mihalik and I ventured out to our local Barnes & Noble to see if we could find a copy in the wild. And we did! It was right in the front, in the new releases in paperback section. Behold the face of pure joy:

Me in B&N pointing at Polaris Rising.
Who has two hands and is bad at pointing at things? This lady! :)

After a stellar day yesterday, I woke up to the news that Polaris Rising had a shiny new badge on Amazon this morning:

#1 New Release in Science Fiction Adventures

Look at that #1 New Release in Science Fiction Adventures badge! I don’t know how long it’s going to stick around, but I totally took a screenshot because that’s going in my keeper file. :) Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who bought a copy or requested it from the library or just geeked out with me over the release!

And, as a reminder, don’t forget that I have a book signing THIS SATURDAY afternoon at BookPeople in Austin.

If you already read Polaris Rising and decided it’s a keeper and you need a signed copy, BookPeople can hook you up. Same if you read it and decided it’s so bad you want to see my signature burn (but do please be careful and have a fire extinguisher standing by). 😉

Thank you once again. You all are the best! 🥰

Happy Book Birthday to Polaris Rising!

It’s hard to believe that it’s finally here, but Polaris Rising is out in the world today! Thank you so much to my agent, editor, and everyone at Harper Voyager who made today possible. And thank you to everyone who preordered! You all are amazing!

To celebrate the release, I’m doing a signing in Austin on February 9 at 2:00PM at BookPeople. There’s also a Facebook event if that’s your style. :) I hope I see some of you there!

If you can’t make it to the signing itself, you still have time to order a signed book!

Polaris Rising Cover

A space princess on the run and a notorious outlaw soldier become unlikely allies in this imaginative, sexy space opera adventure—the first in an exciting science fiction trilogy.

In the far distant future, the universe is officially ruled by the Royal Consortium, but the High Councillors, the heads of the three High Houses, wield the true power. As the fifth of six children, Ada von Hasenberg has no authority; her only value to her High House is as a pawn in a political marriage. When her father arranges for her to wed a noble from House Rockhurst, a man she neither wants nor loves, Ada seizes control of her own destiny. The spirited princess flees before the betrothal ceremony and disappears among the stars.

Ada eluded her father’s forces for two years, but now her luck has run out. To ensure she cannot escape again, the fiery princess is thrown into a prison cell with Marcus Loch. Known as the Devil of Fornax Zero, Loch is rumored to have killed his entire chain of command during the Fornax Rebellion, and the Consortium wants his head.

When the ship returning them to Earth is attacked by a battle cruiser from rival House Rockhurst, Ada realizes that if her jilted fiancé captures her, she’ll become a political prisoner and a liability to her House. Her only hope is to strike a deal with the dangerous fugitive: a fortune if he helps her escape.

But when you make a deal with an irresistibly attractive Devil, you may lose more than you bargained for . . .

And if PR isn’t in your budget, no worries, I’ve been there. Request it from your library! Many libraries make it super easy to request new books, including e-books. If you can’t find out how to do it online, librarians are great! Plus, you’ll get to visit a library and that’s always a win. :)

Good News, Everyone!

I’ve got two awesome pieces of book news to share!

First, Amazon picked Polaris Rising as one of their best romances of the month! And it also shows up under the best science fiction & fantasy category, too! (Thanks to Mr. Mihalik for finding that one!) The ordering changes, so you may have to scroll to see it, but it’s there. :)

Amazon's best romance books of the month, including POLARIS RISING.

I am beyond thrilled that Amazon picked my book. I mean, look at the other books they picked. I’m dying to read Devil’s Daughter by Lisa Kleypas. I love her books and this series is so fun.

SFR Galaxy Awards 2018

My second piece of excellent news is that The Queen’s Gambit won “Best Serial” in round four of the 2018 SFR Galaxy Awards! I am so delighted!

This is the very first award I’ve ever won for my writing, so it’s extra special. :)

What a fantastic way to start February!

And if you read the title in Professor Farnsworth’s voice, you get ten bonus points. :)
