Comic-Con@Home Virtual Panel!

Comic-Con is going virtual this year, for obvious reasons, and I was lucky enough to be included on a panel with four other incredible Voyager authors!

COMIC-CON@Home Panel. Galaxy Grrls, or the Female and Non-Binary Authors who Bridge the new Frontier of Space Fiction. Escaping Exodus, by Nicky Drayden. Chaos Reigning by Jessie Mihalik. Noumenon Ultra by Marina J. Lostetter. Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes. A Pale Light in the Black by K.B. Wagers. Friday, July 24, 2020, 3-4PM.

Galaxy Grrls, or the Female and Non-Binary Authors who Bridge the new Frontier of Space Fiction
Friday, July 24, 2020 : 3:00 – 4:00PM PT

Authors Nicky Drayden (Escaping Exodus), Marina Lostetter (Noumenon Ultra), Jessie Mihalik (Chaos Reigning), Valerie Valdes (Chilling Effect), and K.B. Wagers (A Pale Light in the Black) eye the history of space fiction through an entirely new lens. This panel is focused on the legacy of female and non-binary writers who came before, and the trailblazing of modern authors who are re-defining sex, gender, and society against the tapestry of the stars.

Since it’s a virtual event, we pre-recorded the panel, and I have to say, my fellow panelists were phenomenal! Marina volunteered to moderate as well as participate and she did a great job.

I, however, was incredibly nervous.

I don’t know if it was the fact that it was Comic-Con (a dream!) or what, but I got nervous like I haven’t in a very long time, even though I was sitting in my own office, staring at a webcam. I eventually got it under control, mostly, but the first ten minutes or so you’ll probably be able to hear my voice shake.

Come for the nervous rambling, stay for the great discussions. 😂

Despite my nerves, the whole panel was incredibly fun, so you should definitely check it out! Best of all, it’s completely free!

And if your TBR is looking a little thin, pick up the other panelists’ books! They are all writing fantastic sci-fi. 💕

Event with Alyssa Cole & Nalini Singh and TQT News

Date Night w/ Alyssa Cole, Nalini Singh, and Jessie Mihalik. A new series featuring faves from Romancelandia chatting books, snacks, lure, and whatever else they feel like! Friday 6/12/2020 @ 6PM. loyaltybookstores.com/datenight4

I’ve been busy writing, but I’m popping out of the writing cave to remind you that tomorrow night (Friday, June 12), I’m doing a virtual event with Alyssa Cole and Nalini Singh for Loyalty Bookstores at 6PM Eastern. You’ll need to RSVP to get an invite, but it’s free!

And if you order my books from Loyalty, you’ll get a little surprise from me (while supplies last). :)

If you haven’t read Alyssa’s and Nalini’s new releases, you definitely should! They are two of my favorite authors, so I might be a little biased (or a lot biased, lol), but all of the other reviews agree. :)

I read The A.I. Who Loved Me by Alyssa last week and it was amazing. Biting social commentary on the dangers of an increasingly tech-filled world perfectly paired with a hot, delicious romance. I adore Alyssa’s voice and I could’ve easily highlighted half the book just for the beautiful turns of phrase. I’ve got all of my fingers crossed that the other characters in the book get their own stories!

Last night, I finished Alpha Night, Nalini’s new release that just came out on Tuesday. I love, love, love the Psy-Changeling books and this one didn’t disappoint. A badass alpha wolf and a distant, nearly broken Arrow (a badass Psy soldier) mate at first sight. Their HEA is so, so good.

As always, try a sample before you buy, but don’t do it close to bedtime or you’ll stay up waaaayyyy too late. Been there, done that. :)

Next up: The Queen’s Triumph. Yes, it’s still happening. Yes, it’ll be a free serial first. I’m still writing it, so expect it to start late summer.

And, yes, the ebook is already up for preorder, coming December 8. :)

I wasn’t going to promote it quite yet, but some of you eagle-eyed readers have already spotted it, so the secret is out. It went up this month because The Queen’s Gambit is on sale for 99 cents all month long as part of a Kindle Monthly Deal, so if you’ve been meaning to pick up the first novella, you can get it for cheap from your ebook retailer of choice! (International pricing may vary.)

If you are a newsletter subscriber, you got a teeny tiny snippet of TQT with the email I sent on Tuesday. If you are not, you can still sign up and the welcome email will have links to the previous five newsletters, including Tuesday’s. :)

Behold, the cover and blurb!

The Queens Triumph Cover. Queen Samara in battle armor, looking at the viewer, holding a gun in front of a planet with rings.

Queen Samara Rani knows she’s likely walking into a trap, but agreeing to meet with Commander Adams is the fastest way to get within striking distance of the Quint Confederacy’s biggest traitor and her sworn enemy. Adams attacked her home and destroyed her ship, and if he’s not stopped, he will ruin the tentative peace between the Kos Empire and the Quint Confederacy—and Samara’s chance at future with Emperor Valentin Kos.

Samara is determined to serve up some well-deserved payback, but she is no longer a lone assassin, and despite her protests, her friends and allies refuse to let her undertake such a perilous mission without them. Even Valentin, usually the voice of reason, refuses to stay behind. Samara is loath to put her friends in danger, and taking a team carries its own risks, so she makes plans to keep them safe, no matter what the cost.

When Adams threatens that safety, and everything she holds dear, Samara vows to show him exactly how she earned her deadly reputation—and why one should never cross the Rogue Queen.

Preorder Now!
Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Apple Books | Kobo | Google Play

Paper books are coming, but won’t be available to order until at/close to release due to how print on demand works.

And, before I go, I urge you to please support the protestors and the change they are working for. Public protest is one of the strongest tools for change we have in a democracy. Listen. Learn. Help. The news seems to have moved on, but protests are still happening and there is a lot of work left to do. Black Lives Matter.

If you need a place to start, here is an easy way to donate to 70+ organizations. Go through them, find the ones that speak to you, and you can donate the entire amount to just those orgs. Or split it across all of them. Or donate to the ACLU, the LDF, or another organization of your choice.

Stay safe, friends.

Virtual Events!

Here is a list of my current and upcoming virtual events! So many exciting things! 😍

Chat with Bree & Donna – Friday, May 22 @ 7PM CDT (that’s tomorrow!!)

Kit Rocha also known as Bree & Donna, hanging with Jessie Mihalik, Friday May 22, 7PM CST

Bree and Donna (aka Kit Rocha) were kind enough to invite me to hang out with them this week to celebrate the launch of Chaos Reigning. The chat will be live-streamed on YouTube tomorrow night and the chat will be active so you can come ask questions! We’ll talk about CR, writing, their upcoming book (which is SO GOOD), and maybe my new series.

If you head over to YouTube, you can set a reminder so you don’t get busy and forget. :)

Two interviews with Jeffe Kennedy!

Jeffe and I were supposed to have an event at The Ripped Bodice next week to celebrate the release of CR and The Fiery Crown (which I’m so looking forward to!), but because of everything the event was canceled. :(

The Ripped Bodice presents A Book Conversation with Jeffe Kennedy & Jessie Mihalik

So instead of an in-person event, we did a virtual video event hosted by our mutual agent, Ms. Sarah! It’s available on The Ripped Bodice’s Instagram! And you can watch it in your browser if you don’t have an Instagram account. :)

Jeffe was also kind enough to have me on her First Cup of Coffee podcast last Friday, and she asked the best questions! If you want to know how I came up with the idea for PR (and how much it changed from that original idea) or how I accidentally conference stalked my agent prior to signing with her, it’s all in here!

And finally, I’m doing a virtual event with Alyssa Cole and Nalini Singh on June 12 at 6PM EDT for Loyalty Bookstores.

Date Night w/ Alyssa Cole, Nalini Singh, and Jessie Mihalik. A new series featuring faves from Romancelandia chatting books, snacks, lure, and whatever else they feel like! Friday 6/12/2020 @ 6PM. loyaltybookstores.com/datenight4

You all, Alyssa and Nalini are two of my favorite authors, and I might have made incomprehensible squeeing noises when Alyssa asked me to join them. 😂

You need a ticket to attend, but it’s free to sign up.

Austin Book Signing with Ilona Andrews on Thursday!

Austin Book Signing with Ilona Andrews! Thursday, August 29, 7PM. B&N Arboretum, 10000 Research Blvd #158, Austin, TX 78759.

Happy book birthday to Ilona Andrews! Their absolutely superb Sapphire Flames is out in the world today and you can pick up your very own copy. I got to read an ARC and it’s delicious. I love Catalina and Alessandro and can not wait for book two (she says on the day book one comes out, lol).

To celebrate the release, Ilona and Gordon are doing an Austin event on Thursday and kindly invited me to join them! 😍🎉

I’ll be signing Polaris Rising because it’s a bit too early for Aurora Blazing, but my publicist did send me extra AB ARCs to give away at the event, so if you want a chance to read it early, come see us!

Ilona Andrews and Jessie Mihalik Book Signing!
Thursday, August 29 at 7:00 PM
Barnes & Noble Arboretum
10000 Research Blvd #158
Austin, TX 78759

Ilona and Gordon are always fantastic at events and I’m so, so happy that I get to join them.

Nine years ago, I met them for the first time ever at a convention in the Renaissance Hotel around the corner from the B&N. Back then I was a baby writer just trying to decide if this writing thing was something I could feasibly do, but I never, ever thought that one day I’d be at a book signing with them! What a difference nine years makes! 😍

EDIT: I know a lot of you probably already have copies of PR, so please don’t feel any pressure to buy another one. Check with the bookstore on their policy (and definitely try to buy Sapphire Flames from them), but if it’s allowed, I’ll happily sign books you bring from home. If it’s not allowed, I’ll meet you in a back alley and sign them afterwards. :)

NYC and #RWA19 Events This Week!

This week I’ll be in New York City for the RWA conference. I have three events scheduled and two of them are completely free and open to the public, so please come see me if you’re in the area!

Best-Selling Authors in Bryant Park: A Lotta Romance

Wednesday, July 24, 12:30–1:45 PM

Bryant Park
Free and open to the public! I think I can sign whatever you bring, but don’t hold me to it. If not, I’ll make time after the official signing.

RWA 2019 Avon Signing (Conference Badge Required)

Thursday, July 25, 2019, 3–4 PM

Westside Ballroom, New York Marriott Marquis
I have no idea what I’m signing. Could be PR, could be AB. Find out with me! :)

RWA 2019 Readers for Life Signing

Saturday, July 27, 2019, 3–5 PM

Westside Ballroom, New York Marriott Marquis
Free and open to the public! I’m signing PR. No outside books, but you’re welcome to come say hello and get a button/bookmark!

If you see me at the conference, please say hello! I’m a super introvert, so I’ll probably be hiding in a corner, but I love to chat if I don’t have to be the one to start the conversation. :)

I’ll be around all week and I’m happy to meet up to sign your books outside of the signing times. Twitter is the best place to keep track of me and to reach me. And please introduce yourself, even if we’ve met before. Names and faces are difficult for me, and with conference brain being crazy, I’ll be doing well to remember my own name.

Last year, I sat next to the lovely Tara Wyatt for the entire Avon signing, talked to her a bunch, and then reintroduced myself to her the next day like I’d never seen her before in my life. She was so nice about it, but it’s still one of those cringey things my brain likes to remind me of when I’m trying to fall asleep. So I promise you, if I’ve forgotten you (and I inevitably will), it’s not you, it’s 1000% me.

If you are planning to come to RWA or one of the signings, I made some Badass Space Princess buttons. Find me to snag one for yourself!

And if you’re not going to be in NYC this week, I hope you have an excellent week wherever you are! :)
