Buns & Roses Tickets on Sale!

Buns & Roses event image, featuring my author photo and the cover of Aurora Blazing.

I’m hosting a table at the Buns & Roses Romance Tea for Literacy this fall and tickets are now on sale. (UPDATE: My table is sold out, but there are still tons of other awesome authors and you get to meet us all at a meet-and-greet before we’re seated, so please still come!) The event is in Richardson, TX, just outside of Dallas, on October 27, and Alisha Rai is going to be the keynote speaker. If I wasn’t hosting, I’d totally try to be at her table. :)

There are over thirty authors attending for what should be a fun afternoon of books, romance, tea, and charity. Each author’s table only seats nine guests, so don’t wait too long to grab your tickets.

I can’t promise that it’s the most fun you’ll have in a Dallas suburb on a Sunday afternoon in late October, but I’ll do my best. :) And you’ll get to see me in a fancy hat. Probably. Side note: where does one even buy a fancy hat these days?

Look at those other authors! I’m going to have to get my star eyes under control in order to be able to form a coherent sentence. This is the first book festival I’ve been to where I’ll be the one behind the table. I’m equal parts nervous and excited!

Thank You!

Yesterday was amazing! I tried to keep up with everyone on social media, but if I missed you, I apologize. It got a little crazy there for a bit. Thank you for being so excited about Polaris Rising. You all made my day!

Last night, Mr. Mihalik and I ventured out to our local Barnes & Noble to see if we could find a copy in the wild. And we did! It was right in the front, in the new releases in paperback section. Behold the face of pure joy:

Me in B&N pointing at Polaris Rising.
Who has two hands and is bad at pointing at things? This lady! :)

After a stellar day yesterday, I woke up to the news that Polaris Rising had a shiny new badge on Amazon this morning:

#1 New Release in Science Fiction Adventures

Look at that #1 New Release in Science Fiction Adventures badge! I don’t know how long it’s going to stick around, but I totally took a screenshot because that’s going in my keeper file. :) Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who bought a copy or requested it from the library or just geeked out with me over the release!

And, as a reminder, don’t forget that I have a book signing THIS SATURDAY afternoon at BookPeople in Austin.

If you already read Polaris Rising and decided it’s a keeper and you need a signed copy, BookPeople can hook you up. Same if you read it and decided it’s so bad you want to see my signature burn (but do please be careful and have a fire extinguisher standing by). 😉

Thank you once again. You all are the best! 🥰

Happy Book Birthday to Polaris Rising!

It’s hard to believe that it’s finally here, but Polaris Rising is out in the world today! Thank you so much to my agent, editor, and everyone at Harper Voyager who made today possible. And thank you to everyone who preordered! You all are amazing!

To celebrate the release, I’m doing a signing in Austin on February 9 at 2:00PM at BookPeople. There’s also a Facebook event if that’s your style. :) I hope I see some of you there!

If you can’t make it to the signing itself, you still have time to order a signed book!

Polaris Rising Cover

A space princess on the run and a notorious outlaw soldier become unlikely allies in this imaginative, sexy space opera adventure—the first in an exciting science fiction trilogy.

In the far distant future, the universe is officially ruled by the Royal Consortium, but the High Councillors, the heads of the three High Houses, wield the true power. As the fifth of six children, Ada von Hasenberg has no authority; her only value to her High House is as a pawn in a political marriage. When her father arranges for her to wed a noble from House Rockhurst, a man she neither wants nor loves, Ada seizes control of her own destiny. The spirited princess flees before the betrothal ceremony and disappears among the stars.

Ada eluded her father’s forces for two years, but now her luck has run out. To ensure she cannot escape again, the fiery princess is thrown into a prison cell with Marcus Loch. Known as the Devil of Fornax Zero, Loch is rumored to have killed his entire chain of command during the Fornax Rebellion, and the Consortium wants his head.

When the ship returning them to Earth is attacked by a battle cruiser from rival House Rockhurst, Ada realizes that if her jilted fiancé captures her, she’ll become a political prisoner and a liability to her House. Her only hope is to strike a deal with the dangerous fugitive: a fortune if he helps her escape.

But when you make a deal with an irresistibly attractive Devil, you may lose more than you bargained for . . .

And if PR isn’t in your budget, no worries, I’ve been there. Request it from your library! Many libraries make it super easy to request new books, including e-books. If you can’t find out how to do it online, librarians are great! Plus, you’ll get to visit a library and that’s always a win. :)

Polaris Rising: ARC Giveaway and Book Signing!

January ARC Giveaway

We are just under four weeks away from the release of Polaris Rising! I can’t believe it. And to make it even more unbelievable, I am going to have a book signing at BookPeople in Austin, TX on Saturday, February 9 at 2:00 PM!

A book signing! At a bookstore! 😱

If you are local, please, please consider coming. I feel a little bit like one of those MLM people, trying to coerce people into attending, but my nightmare is I show up to a room full of empty chairs. So tell your friends, tell your mom, and heck, tell your friends’ moms. :)

You must buy the book from BookPeople to get it signed, but you can come meet me and hear me nervously ramble for free!

If you are not local, you can still order signed books and BookPeople will ship them straight to your door! Details are available on the event page.

And if you haven’t preordered yet, now is an excellent time. :) Preorder numbers are important for a debut author, so if you’re planning to pick it up on release anyway, it would mean a lot to me if you preordered:

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iBooks | Kobo | Google Play | BookPeople – Signed!

A million thanks to everyone who has already preordered or requested it from the library or told their friends about it. You all are the best! 😍

I’m doing two things to celebrate being less than a month from release. First, I’ve made some quote cards with tiny little snippets of PR. These will go up on Instagram first before migrating to my other social media.

Instagram is new for me and I’m still trying to find my footing, but here is the first snippet! (I’m not using the built-in embed because it’s terrible, but if you click the image, it’ll take you to the Instagram page with a bigger version.)

There are moments in your life when you absolutely know what you should do and then you absolutely choose to do something else entirely.

This was one of those moments.

—Ada von Hasenberg, Polaris Rising

Let me know what you think!

Secondly, I’m giving away six ARC copies of Polaris Rising! 🎉🚀🎉

Your patience in reading this far was rewarded!

To enter to win an ARC, here are the rules. Please read them all! Incomplete entries will be ignored.

1. The entry period starts now and ends on January 18, 2019 at 12:00PM (noon) CST. You must be eighteen or older. Open to US and international readers.

2. Leave ONE top-level comment (i.e., not a reply) below and tell me about something positive. It could be a promotion at work, getting to spend time with family, a book you love, etc. Let’s put some happiness out into the world. :) Duplicate top-level comments will be deleted. You are welcome to reply to other comments, though, because those won’t count as entries.

3. Comments must be on the blog post on my site (www.jessiemihalik.com). Comments on Facebook, Goodreads, etc. won’t count.

4. Come back after 1/18 and see if you’ve won! Winners must claim their book. Instructions will be included in the winning post.

I’ll start: In addition to all the publishing awesomeness, my husband got a new job he’s excited about, and I recently read The Emperor’s Edge by Lindsay Buroker. It was really fun. It’s like a high-fantasy Leverage where a determined woman turns a rag-tag bunch of criminals into a team for a crazy plot to save the empire. And it’s free!
