Polaris Rising: Cover Reveal, RWA Signing, Snippet, and More!!

It’s the week for book news! But before I show you the gorgeous cover of Polaris Rising, let me tell you about something exciting:

I am signing early galley copies of Polaris Rising at the Avon signing at RWA this week!

The signing is on Friday, July 20, at 8:30AM in the Sheraton Denver Downtown Plaza AB, and you need an RWA conference badge to attend.

If you or anyone you know is going to RWA, please please please come and see me. This is my first signing EVER, and it’s like my nightmare scenario to have a book signing where no one comes. I’ll be in a room with some of my favorite authors, so on your way to their table, take a second to stop by my table. :)

And now, without further ado, here is the cover for Polaris Rising:

Many thanks to the team at Voyager for the design! I think it turned out great and I can’t wait to see it in print!

If you’re a reviewer, librarian, or bookseller, review copies of Polaris Rising are available on Edelweiss.

And I know I just had a book release (which was amazing, thank you so much!), but if you feel so inclined, Polaris Rising is up for preorder, both in ebook and print formats:

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iBooks | Kobo | Google Play

Preorders are important for traditionally published books (especially debut novels), so expect me to push it a few more times as we get closer to release. :)

And, as a bonus for making it through all of that, here’s a tiny snippet:

Veronica set a circular device on the table and clicked the middle. I took a sip of tea and pretended ignorance. I didn’t know where she’d gotten her hands on a silencer, but I would dearly love to. All communications from inside a two-meter radius from the silencer would not transmit outside that radius—voices, coms, bugs, nothing. Yet we could still hear the faint murmurs from the front of the shop.

They were so illegal that I hadn’t even bothered to steal one when I’d left home. Because while Ada von Hasenberg had permission to carry one, neither my Irena Hasan nor Maria Franco identities did. And getting caught with one was an automatic ten-year sentence.

“You may lower your hood, if you like. It’s safe here. And would you prefer Irena or…” She paused delicately.

If it was meant to shock me, it worked. I pulled myself together and refocused on my purpose. I lowered my hood. “Irena is fine. Thank you for agreeing to meet,” I said after another sip of tea. At least the tea was good.

I picked up one of the delicate triangle tea sandwiches and was transported back to my mother’s afternoon tea parties. The women of the Consortium were just as bloodthirsty and power-hungry as the men, perhaps more so, and entering a ladies’ tea always struck me as entering a nest of pretty vipers.

  1. Cover looks great!! If I hadn’t already pre-ordered I would be doing it right now!

I live in the UK and if I could get access I would definitely stop by for a signing – I’ve never been to a book signing

  2. Pre-ordered both Kindle and print,,, if they had gotten it out before Christmas I’d have bought a bunch of print copies for gift giving. Alas, January is too late.

    1. Wow, thank you so much! I know I said preorders are important, but please don’t feel like you need to order both. Only do it if you really want both editions. :)

  3. Excellent, consider my pre-order in. I really enjoyed the Queens Gambit and am excited to try Polaris Rising. The snippets have been very interesting so far.

  4. Preorder for kindle is in! Cover is gorgeous, can’t wait.
Enjoyed published TQG ‘version’; the updates from weekly were spot on and made the story better.

  5. The cover is stunning. If I wasn’t already looking forward to the book – that would definitely be motivation. Good luck at the signing – am Down Under so won’t be in the neighbourhood.

As an idea – Carrie S from Smart Bitches Trashy Books (Sarah Wendell will be at RWA), reviews Sci-Fi. You could pass a copy on…

  6. I live North Carolina otherwise I would totally go to that signing. Even if you don’t get a ton of flybys this time, just know that it will increase the more people get to read your books. You’re an incredible author. I’m gonna go pre-order Polaris Rising right now. Have fun in Denver!

  7. I love, love The Queen’s Gambit (before and after edited version) and when I read the teaser of Polaris Rising near the end of the book, I’m thoroughly hooked and can’t wait for the book’s release date. It will be blast! I wish I live in USA so I had the chance to attend many cool conferences such as RWA.
