Aurora Blazing ARC Giveaway!

Aurora Blazing comes out on October 1, which means we’re just about a month and a half away from release! Ahhh!!! Where did this year go?

If you want to read it even sooner, I’m giving you a chance to get your hands on an early copy! I have three ARCs (advance reader copies) to give away. See below for details. And if you haven’t preordered yet, now is an excellent time. :)

And don’t forget, for US readers, my publisher is running a Goodreads giveaway, too!

Aurora Blazing Cover

To save her brother and protect her family’s future, a powerful princess must join forces with a dashing man from her past in this thrilling space adventure, the second novel in the Consortium Rebellion trilogy.

As the dutiful daughter of High House von Hasenberg, Bianca set aside her personal feelings and agreed to a political match arranged by her family, only to end up trapped in a loveless, miserable marriage. When her husband unexpectedly dies, Bianca vows never to wed again. Newly independent, she secretly uses her wealth and influence to save other women stuck in dire circumstances. Information is power and Bianca has a network of allies and spies that would be the envy of the ’verse—if anyone knew about it.

When her family’s House is mysteriously attacked, Bianca’s oldest brother, the heir to House von Hasenberg, disappears. Fearful for her brother’s life, the headstrong Bianca defies her father and leaves Earth to save him. Ian Bishop, the director of House von Hasenberg security—and Bianca’s first love—is ordered to find and retrieve the rebellious woman.

Ian is the last man Bianca wants to see. To evade capture, she leads him on a merry chase across the universe. But when their paths finally collide, she knows she must persuade him to help her. Bianca will do anything to save her sibling, even if it means spending time alone on a small ship with the handsome, infuriating man who once broke her heart.

As the search takes them deep into rival House Rockhurst territory, Bianca must decide if she can trust Ian with the one piece of information that could destroy her completely . . .

To enter to win an ARC, here are the rules. Please read them all! Incomplete entries will be ignored.

  1. The entry period starts now and ends on August 30, 2019 at 12:00PM (noon) CST. You must be eighteen or older. Open to US and international readers.
  2. Leave ONE top-level comment (i.e., not a reply) below and tell me about something fun you’ve done this summer. It could be reading a new book, a vacation, enjoying a break from school, etc. Let’s celebrate summer fun! (EDIT: Okay, I forgot about the southern hemisphere. D’oh! If you live south, tell me something fun you’ve done this winter.) Duplicate top-level comments will be deleted. You are welcome to reply to other comments, though, because those won’t count as entries.
  3. Comments must be on the blog post on my site (www.jessiemihalik.com). Comments on Facebook, Goodreads, etc. won’t count.
  4. Come back after August 30 and see if you’ve won! Winners will be picked by random number and must claim their book. Instructions will be included in the winning post.

I will start! Not only did I finish writing Chaos Reigning (and you might want to peek over there for a teeny snippet!), I also have time to read again! In the past couple weeks, I’ve read Brazen and the Beast by Sarah MacLean and The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare, and both were fantastic!

  1. It’s Winter here. Planning a summer / post Christmas holiday and enjoying a short getaway to wine country (although I was recovering from the flu) have been fun.

I have a day off next week that I’ve taken to read books! (Why do they release on Tuesday???)

Looking forward to the new book. Thank you for the competition.

  2. I got my reading back after a long slump! And am devouring books now, not that there’s any shortage….. And I got a new dog 💕

  3. Winter/early spring here. Enjoying seeing the new lambs and daffodils, magnolias and cherries blooming. So looking forward to the new book!

  4. This summer my neighbor helped me re-landscape my front yard! Now I have roses, zinnias, pineapple mint, and tomatoes -that somehow took over a pot of sweet basil= growing out front.
I also read a few good books by my favorite authors :)

  5. I went on a road trip through Germany with the family. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) most of my go-to authors are releasing their new books at the end of summer/fall so I didn’t do much reading this summer.

  6. With the kiddos home we went to many fun activities. Lots of hours at the pool. Nature walks. But the best day was when we visited my cousin and spent a lazy summer afternoon with him and his family, playing board games, and enjoying each other company.

  7. Ooh I’d love to win. :)

This summer I went in search of dark skies in deep west Texas to photograph the stars: milkyway, star trails, delta aquarids meteor shower in Davis Mountains State Park, and at McDonald Observatory.

I also explored Marfa, Alpine and dragged Dad along for corny roadtrip photos too.

  8. Another southern hemisphere resident for whom summer seems a while away at the tail end of winter. Last summer was proud of myself for swimming a 3km ocean race then two weeks later running a 12km road race, something I haven’t done since I was a teenager (quite a few years ago). Thanks for giveaway.

  9. I visited my sister in the Finger Lakes region of western NY state had a wonderful time. We even got my brother in law to chauffeur us on a wine tour around Seneca Lake.

  10. We visited my mother in Tennessee. I grew up swimming in rivers, so staying near the Kentucky river was wonderful. It was so nice introducing my boys to camping and fishing. My oldest can’t wait to do it again.

  11. I’m from South Africa and went to a little town called Hermanus to watch the southern right whales from the shore. They come to calf in the warmer waters.

Would also be great to win an ARC :-).

  12. Only one week of summer remains before my kids go back to school. I promised myself we’d go to the pool more (it’s easy to get caught up in work and lose track of time), and we did! My kids don’t usually like camps, but they each did a week of camp — my oldest, a writing camp, and my youngest, an acting camp. Both of them loved their camps, and it broke up any monotony summer had. I discovered new (to me) authors I LOVE: you, Jessie (thanks, Ilona Andrews!)! I devoured everything you have out. And Amanda Bouchet’s Kingmaker Chronicles — I’m on book 3. On to Autumn, which I love 🍂🍁🌾🌻🧡

  13. I took a glass etching class, worked waaaay too much, took the puppers for walks on new shady trails, and read every book I could fit into my spare moments!

  14. This summer I visited Hawaii and decided to check off a couple of things on my do-this-before-you-get-too-old-to-do-it bucket list.
So… I learned how to scuba dive and went scuba diving looking for turtles.
Then, since that worked out pretty well and I didn’t end up drowning myself, I went on a three hour zip line adventure, dangling on an incredibly thin cable over magnificent gorges. I only got stuck hanging over a gorge once, and lived to tell about it. A win-win for me, right?

  15. This summer I finally took a vacation with my family that didn’t feel like a mommy-at-work trip! Eight days of sun and pool time allowed me to binge all the shows I’ve heard about but never had time to watch: Big Little Lies, Fleabag, Homecoming, Mozart in the Jungle and Breaking Bad!

  16. Something that was both fun and exhausting was having my 14 year old twin nephews spending 3 months of the summer with me from abroad. It was the longest time I have spent with them and as trying as it was at times it was something I am grateful for.

  17. I’ve played miniature golf with friends this summer. Tuesday nights are half price for golfers over 55, so we try to go on Tuesdays after work.

  18. We revisit the holiday place of last year. Last year our youngest son broke his arm on the night before we went on holiday, so he spent that week in a cast and couldn’t do anything with water involved.
This year they made a “vlot” (sorry, I don’t know the English word) of threes and floated on the lake. The did a three climb and al of my men where happy. I can’t participate in most of the activities because of my wheelchair and I read a lot, but I enjoyed the happy faces of my men so much I forgot my ereader in the car and only noticed it wen we were back at the car.

  19. This summer I went to school, working on my Bachelor’s in Software Engineering. BUT, I get to go to California and go to the beach Labor Day weekend. So my future plans will be awesome. <3

  20. I entered a shawl I had knitted in the MN State Fair, and today I discovered I got 3rd place of the 19 entries in the category! I believe my prize will be $4 plus bragging rights. I’m hoping for a ribbon, too! Maybe I’ll buy a latte with my winnings and share it with my husband.

  21. Our summer was jam packed with fun and bittersweet activities. My youngest (of 4) graduated high school, so, graduation, party, annual camping trip to the Adirondacks, more parties for kids I’ve known since grade school. Not much time for reading but, now that we’ve dropped our baby off at college and are soon to drop kid#3 back at school I think the empty nesting will lead to much binge reading.

  22. I went to Australia and got to see Vivid Sydney, scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef and take pictures along the Great Ocean Road.

  23. After knee surgery, finally got to swim again! I adore lake or river swimming when the sand is soft under your touch, the sun creates dazzling patterns of lightdance below, and the world is gold-green-blue when you open your eyes underwater and see… and you have all the time in the world to dive and glide, back somersault and play…

  24. I’ve been doing a lot more reading and writing this summer. I found your book Polaris Rising, which I absolutely loved! One of the best strong princess stories I’ve read.

I also discovered a dragon shifter series by T.A. White as well as the Crown of Shards series by Jennifer Estep and Folks of the Air series by Holly Black. Also just finished Sapphire Flames by Ilona Andrews. Lots of great books to read this summer.

Plus working on writing some of my own stories with my husband. So life is busy. One full summer.

  25. Not book related but the most exciting and amazing experience that I had this summer was when I went to a BTS concert. It was magical, they’re my favourite band ever and it was a dream come true to see them live 😭💜

  26. I visited Harry Potter World at Universal Studios for the first time! It was so amazing to see a series of books brought to life like that.

  27. I went camping in Denmark this summer which I super enjoyed! It was one of the most relaxing and calming vacations that I’ve had in a long time :)

  28. Really looking forward to the book!

Exciting thing I did this summer – Spent time in 3 cities, in 2 countries, continents apart over 10 days, while combining business and pleasure.

  29. I got addicted to Love Nikki Dress Up Queen. LOL! My friends make fun of me but I have the best time and was even pursuaded to joined a Discord, which is so not my usual thing.

  30. I’m taking an online…course I guess, on data science. It’s not too bad, but not all of the lessons are overly helpful.

  31. I finally rented an apartment and am moving out of my mom’s house! It’s a major step for me, considering how much I’ve struggled in the past few years. I’m half agony, half hope (and low-key waiting for the floor to drop out from under my feet!)

  32. This summer I was able to go to Baltimore, MD for Cubing USA’s National competition. I staffed the event and my son came in 3rd place for the megaminx cube (12 sided Rubik’s Cube). We had a great time!

  33. Ate my first home grown blueberries! First time I’ve stayed in one place long enough to try gardening. Planted the tree in spring, it still seems to be alive, and made three whole blueberries! Apparently the leaves go properly red in the autumn. I’m so excited.

  34. I’m in Canada and it’s summer here. I just got back from camping in Algonquin Park where I got to hike trails and indulge in my amateur photography. It was so much fun! I also downloaded Ilona Andrews new book Sapphire Flames at midnight the day it was released and read it in a day. They’re the ones who turned me on to your books, and I’m so happy about that. I love both worlds you’ve created and look forward to your books. Can’t wait to read Aurora Blazing!! If I don’t win an ARC giveaway, I’ll be downloading it at midnight on Oct 1 as I’m really excited to read it :D

  35. Hello, this summer we spent a lot weekends in NH. We have a CanAm UTV, and the state has an extensive trail system for riding. It’s dusty and muddy but fun.
Can’t wait for book, enjoyed PR!
