The critically acclaimed author of Polaris Rising takes readers on an exciting journey across the galaxy with the start of her brand-new series about a female bounty hunter and the man who is her sworn enemy.

Octavia Zarola would do anything to keep her tiny, close-knit bounty hunting crew together—even if it means accepting a job from Torran Fletcher, a ruthless former general and bitter adversary. When Torran offers her enough credits to not only keep her crew afloat but also hire someone to fix her ship, Tavi knows that she can’t refuse—no matter how much she’d like to.

There’s just one catch: with so much money on the line, Torran and his crew insist on joining the hunt. Tavi reluctantly agrees because while the handsome, stoic leader pushes all of her buttons—for both anger and desire—she’s endured worse, and the massive bonus payment he’s promised for a completed job is reason enough to shut up and deal.

But when they uncover a deeper plot that threatens the delicate peace between humans and Valoffs, Tavi suspects that Torran has been using her as the impetus for a new war. With the fate of her crew balanced on a knife’s edge, Tavi must decide where her loyalties lie—with the quiet Valoff who’s been lying to her, or with the human leaders who left her squad to die on the battlefield. Because this time, her heart is on the line.

My publisher is also running a new Goodreads giveaway this month, so if you’d like to increase your odds of reading the book early, you can hop over there and enter!

And now, what you’re all here for!

To enter to win an ARC, here are the rules. Please read them all! Incomplete entries will be ignored.
Update: Entries are now closed. Winners will be announced soon! Thank you all for participating!

  1. The entry period starts now and ends on December 17, 2021 at noon CST. You must be eighteen or older. Open to US and international readers. Void where prohibited.
  2. Leave ONE top-level comment (i.e., not a reply to another comment) below and tell me something positive about 2021 or something you’re proud you accomplished this year. Let’s celebrate the end of the year with some positives, because I don’t know about you, but I could certainly use some cheer. :)
    1. ALSO INCLUDE whether you are in the US or International. Shipping costs are out of control right now, so I’m limiting it to a max of two international winners. I will still pick by random number, but if two international comments have already been chosen, I’ll keep generating numbers until I hit a US comment. This means there may be zero, one, or two international winners, depending on how the RNG rolls. Good luck!
    2. Duplicate top-level comments will be deleted. You are welcome to reply to other comments, though, because those won’t count as entries.
  3. Comments must be on the giveaway blog post on my site ( Comments on Facebook, Goodreads, etc. won’t count.
  4. Come back after December 17 and see if you’ve won! Five winners will be picked by random number and must claim their book. Instructions will be included in the winning post.

I’ll start: I wrote and edited Eclipse the Moon this year (and I’m in the US, just for completeness sake). Writing has been super difficult all through the pandemic, so I’m proud that I wrote a book that I love this year! And 2021 brought us COVID-19 vaccines, so I’m very happy about that, too. :)

Oh, and I’m far too happy about this quick little quiz I made that tells you which Starlight’s Shadow crew member you’d be, so while you wait to see if you won, why don’t you mosey over there and check it out?

Happy holidays!

Something positive about 2021…..Thanks to the the world and it’s restrictions i’ve learned to dig deep and rely on me, just lil’ ol’ me. Friends and family arent always going to be there, so i learned who i am. My strengths and weakness. Getting to really know yourself has been my blessing this year. I live in the US.

  17. I finished and submitted my thesis to complete my LLM, cum laude! (USA address). Thank you for the giveaway, Hunt the Stars is one of my most anticipated for 2022!!

  18. Hi,
I just can’t wait 2 months so I’m applying as an international reader.

The best that happened to me this year is finally quitting my job. I was miserable after ten years of working in the same company and having the position I wanted dangled just out of reach. Changing company has been a relief, I felt like I could finally breath and I was ready to take any challenges coming my way!

Another good thing I managed this year is thanks to you and your post about this fabulous bread pan and you were right on both accounts it’s expensive but worth every penny! Thanks to you I’ve baked wonderful baguette all year ! (If someone is wondering )

  19. 2021 has been a big year. I started a new job that is “career adjacent ” so had a steep learning curve and did it all while remote. My husband went back to school so I’m the sole earner and this leap was hard for my change averse soul. I’m really loving this new role and the balance it brings to my life .

  20. I started attending this amazing workshop on sexuality and connection with our bodies. I wasn’t particularly stuck, but I’m so much more aware of what I’m feeling because of the somatic connections; I think I’ve become a better person, and it’ll spill out to my patients and friends.

    I’m in the US

  21. My kids are getting their second shot today!! I also was lucky enough to cut back my work schedule from 40 hours a week to 35 and it’s done wonders for my mental health.

    In the US.

  22. I successfully defended my dissertation proposal and collected my data! All that’s left is to write it up ☺️I’m in the US. Thanks for the giveaway!

  23. After taking up running at the beginning of the pandemic I kept it up since then running 2-3 times almost every week this whole year. I am hugely proud that in summer, I managed to run 10km in less than 60 minutes for the first time :)
International entry here, and I absolutely adore your books!

  24. I got to see my son in July and then he came home two weeks ago. It had been almost two years since we had all been together. And my students returned to campus. We are so grateful to have them and they are so happy to be back at school.

    I’m in the US.

  25. Good thing about 2021 has been my husband- we got married late 2020. This first year of marriage with him has been amazing. We live in the US. We are happy we are in Arizona- we don’t like cold or snow.

  26. I finally got a dog – and I’ve never been happier! His name is Beignet (Benny) and he is 6 months old. He helps me read by the fireplace in the evening because he is the best.

  27. So many good things happened this year, and what I am most pleased about is inviting 6 coaches to join me in the group coaching program I run. They came on board in the summer and have brought with them fresh ideas and inspiration. I am learning so much through this collaboration!

  28. I got a raise and a promotion this year for how hard/much I worked in 2020! It meant I could finally get an apartment on my own, so no more roommates!! That has made my mental health soooo much better. (In the US)

  29. I helped my students grow and achieve despite the pandemic so they could progress to their choice of university, training or work.

    I’m in the UK.

Thanks for the joy your books bring!

  30. In 2021 I’m finally starting to get my social anxiety under control and creating friendships outside of work. This was hard for me, but something I desperately needed after so much isolation in 2020. Also, I lost the weight I gained during 2020. 😃

  31. My youngest kiddo has had severe separation issues since he was a baby. Cried anytime I left, even up until last year for his first year of school. This year he not only runs into class happy, he participates and says how much he loves going.

  32. I saw my best friend/sister of my heart in person for the first time since pre-pandemic days. It was so good to get to hug her.
    I’m in the US.

  33. I’m proud that I managed to read plenty this year, despite working crazy hours and wanting to do nothing but sleep whenever not working said crazy hours.
    International (from Brasil)

  34. Discovered cycling as a new way to balance my work days in front of a computer and would never have thought to be able to achieve so many kilometers (still couning).
    From Germany/International

  35. Got my youngest graduated from High school and started him at university. Also blew by my goal of 175 books to read and read 250! )and still going)

  36. I’m having a great time with a good friend as we work on our block of the month quilts. We’re learning new techniques and having fun trading pictures of our quilts as we progress. A very positive endeavor for this year. We can’t wait to finish our quilts early in 2022.

    I live in the US.

My daughter and I love your books. Am really looking forward to Hunt the Stars.

  37. I’m about to graduate college with my bachelor’s degree, I worked hard to maintain an A average even with everything going on in the world, so I’m very proud of myself for that. Definitely looking forward to being done though! I live in the US :)
