The Queen’s Gambit Available Now!

Happy novella release day! The Queen’s Gambit is now available at your ebook retailer of choice:

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iBooks | Kobo | Google Play

EDIT: PRINT BOOKS ARE HERE! They’re not yet linked from the same page as the ebook, but you can order a copy here:

Amazon

They will hopefully go up on Amazon by the end of the day, but it kind of depends on how long Amazon sits on the approval. I know some of you are waiting on them and I apologize for the delay. I’m desperate to order one, too. :) I’ll edit the post with a link when they’re up.

A huge thank you to every one who preordered and to everyone who buys a copy now that it’s available, or requests it from your library, or just read along as I posted the serial. You all are the best!

For those of you who do read the new version, I hope you enjoy the changes. Let me know! And, if you feel like it, please leave a review. As a new author, reviews are super helpful. :)

This week is my birthday week and I can’t think of a better present than a book release, especially because I’m still furiously writing PR book two, so this is kind of a low key release for me. I had planned to do more, but the book I’m contracted for comes first. The good news is that I’ll hopefully be too busy to stress over how TQG is doing. (Ha!)

And last but not least, I’ll be at the RWA conference next week. This is my first conference as an author, so nerves. But if any of you are going to be there, I’d love to try to meet up for a drink/coffee/etc!

I’m Alive! With Photo Proof and Everything!

I’m alive, I’ve just been super busy trying to crank out as many words as possible on book two. I’m behind schedule, but I’ve had three good writing days in a row, so I’m taking a short break.

Polaris Rising continues to move through the publishing steps. Most recently, I received feedback from the proofreader that I needed to address. So now it’s been looked at by me, agent, editor, copyeditor, and proofreader. I think we might be done at this point, but I thought that after copyeditor, too, so it’ll be a surprise one way or the other. :)

Because we’re inching ever closer to release, Voyager needed an author photo of me for their catalog. If you’ve seen my social media photo, you’ll notice it’s a snapshot of me that I ran through a Prisma filter. Not exactly professional enough to use in a book catalog. …

The Queen’s Gambit: Cover Reveal, Preorder, and New Snippet!

The Queen’s Gambit is now available for preorder! Woohoo! Seeing my name on a novella at Amazon is kind of surreal, I have to admit. :)

Behold, the cover:

Many thanks to Natanya Wheeler at Nancy Yost Literary Agency for her help with the cover design!

Print on demand paperbacks are coming, but they will not be available until closer to release/on release day.

I also created a fancy book page where you can read the blurb and the first two chapters. There weren’t a lot of changes early on, so for those of you who read the serial, below is a peek at the beginning of Chapter Eight. …

Updates, Polaris Rising Copyedits, and a Snippet!

My dad’s surgery went great and he’s recovering quickly; thanks to everyone who sent well wishes!

I finished the second round of edits on The Queen’s Gambit and sent it off to my agent for review. Thank you once again to the betas who generously volunteered their time!

On Friday, the copyedits for Polaris Rising landed a few days early. This is a very important step in the process of my little story becoming a Real Book™. To celebrate, here’s a new PR snippet. I can’t wait for you to get to know Ada and Loch! :)

We turned down an alley that stank of urine and worse. A lanky man several centimeters shorter than Loch detached himself from the wall and stepped into our path. He was younger than me but old enough to know better. A smirk twisted what would be a moderately handsome face into something cold and cruel.

“See here,” he said, “this is my alley. And I charge a toll for its use.” Another man, bigger, older, and stronger, stepped out behind us. I half-turned so I faced both threats. “A hundred credits each and you can be on your way,” the young man said.

“Move,” Loch said. He seemed completely unconcerned. …

The Queen’s Gambit: What’s Next?

Part of the serial story The Queen’s Gambit

Thank you so much to everyone who joined me on this journey. As a new author, I didn’t know what to expect, but you all have been amazing. I loved reading your comments as the story unfolded. :)

Thank you once again to my volunteer betas: Regina Brandt, Alex Curran, Julie Ferm, Amanda Larson, and Liv W. These brave souls helped make the final chapters stronger, and I appreciate their help so, so much.

So, what’s next? Now the novella will go through several rounds of edits to polish it from rough draft to final draft. After that, it will be posted up as an e-novella at your favorite retailers. …
